»Not another group chat«

#Typography #Layout #Zine

Within this typography course, the focus was on experimenting with layout and letterforms. Over time, greater emphasis was placed on designing typography in relation to textual meaning and content. Following a series of smaller exercises and typographic studies at the beginning of the semester, the main project was to design a 16-page zine in a vertical half-fold A4 format.

This Zine was created around the unserious topic of the chaos group chats can involve – in this case a group chat of two couples, who try to plan their holiday together.

In the process, I developed multiple layout concepts that reflect the communicative tensions and contrasting perspectives of the people involved. I particularly enjoyed emphasizing both the emotional tone — written and perceived — and aligning design and typography with the specific themes of each message.

The text and chat are entirely fictional. After printing, I transformed the static visuals of the zine into short animations, bringing selected moments to life through motion.
